You’ve probably heard that you should do 30 minutes of exercise 3-5 days a week.  But sometimes trying to find 30 consecutive minutes is a challenge.  That’s why you should try a 10-minute workout.

10-minute workouts have been found to be remarkably effective in many different areas of wellness.

The secret is that you are more likely to stick with them and work harder.

Getting Started

Starting a workout is always the hardest part.  Whether you are working out at home or in a gym, getting the motivation and drive to get started is always the biggest obstacle.  But once you get started it’s easy to keep going.  If you know you only have to do 10 minutes of work, it won’t seem like a daunting task.  Plus, once you get going you may find you want to keep going.  Next thing you know, you’ve completed a 30-minute workout and you feel amazing!

Positive Mindset

A 10-minute workout also plays a part in your positive thinking and state-of-mind.  You are doing something good for yourself.  You can celebrate the small successes.  Plus, you may find this positivity flowing into other areas.  For example, if you did a 10-minute yoga workout, you may find yourself sitting straighter throughout the day.  Or your quick workout over lunch gave you some extra energy so you don’t need that energy drink in the afternoon and you may sleep better that night.

Burn More Calories

These short workouts also allow you to work harder so you burn more calories.  You can work harder if you know it’s only 10-minutes.

One study showed that 1-minute of a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session can have the same wellness benefits as a 45-min jog! These benefits can include improvement in brain function, insulin sensitivity and heart health.

There are plenty of ways to get in a 10-minute workout.  You can climb stairs on your lunch break, go for a brisk walk/jog or do a workout program or video.
